Strong magnets and radio waves generate detailed cross-sectional images with unmatched soft-tissue contrast—no ionizing radiation involved. Luxe’s advanced open-bore system enhances patient comfort while optional contrast agents (when clinically appropriate) improve visibility of blood vessels, inflammation, or tumors. Protocols are customized to the clinical question for maximum diagnostic value.

What targeted imaging can detect
and what it can't do.

Our Open-Bore 1.5T Diagnostic MRI blends comfort with board-certified expertise—reducing anxiety, eliminating motion issues, and delivering next-day reports your physician can trust.

Even with precision and versatility,
diagnostic MRI has natural limitations

This ensures we always pair diagnostic with your physician’s full clinical picture for the most complete care. While MRI provides exceptional soft-tissue detail, it may not be suitable for patients with certain metal implants, and small bone fractures are often better visualized on CT—your referring physician will help determine the most appropriate imaging option for your needs.

Abdomen &
Pelvis

Organ abnormalities
Tumors
Kidney Stones
Gynecological conditions

When symptoms involve the abdomen or pelvis—such as unexplained pain, bloating, changes in urinary or bowel habits, or gynecological concerns—diagnostic MRI delivers detailed views of organs, blood vessels, and soft tissues. It identifies abnormalities like tumors, cysts, kidney stones, liver or pancreatic issues, uterine or ovarian conditions, and other structural changes, often clarifying findings from other tests. This precise, radiation-free imaging supports confident diagnosis and personalized care in a serene, patient-centered setting.

Ligament tears
Cartilage damage
Arthritis
Meniscal Issues

Joints & Musculoskeletal

Back &
Spine

For persistent knee or shoulder pain, instability, swelling, or limited movement after injury or overuse, diagnostic MRI of the joints and musculoskeletal system reveals intricate details of ligaments, cartilage, tendons, menisci, and bone structures. It detects ligament tears (such as ACL or rotator cuff), cartilage damage, arthritis progression, meniscal issues, and other soft-tissue abnormalities that X-rays or ultrasound may miss—providing your physician with the clear, actionable insights required to restore function and comfort.

Herniated Discs
Spinal Cord Compression
Tumors
Spinal Stenosis

When chronic back or neck pain, numbness, weakness, or radiating symptoms persist, diagnostic MRI of the spine offers unmatched visibility into the vertebrae, discs, spinal cord, and surrounding tissues. It excels at identifying herniated discs, spinal cord compression, tumors, stenosis, or inflammation—revealing the root cause with precision so your care team can develop a targeted plan. At Luxe, this focused imaging brings peace through understanding, delivered in a comfortable, supportive environment.

Tumors
Aneurysms

Brain &
Nervous System

Diagnostic MRI of the brain and nervous system provides exceptional detail to investigate a wide range of concerns, from persistent headaches and dizziness to more serious possibilities such as tumors, aneurysms, multiple sclerosis, stroke, or disorders affecting the eyes and ears. By delivering high-resolution images of brain structures and neural pathways without radiation, it helps uncover subtle changes or abnormalities that guide your physician toward accurate diagnosis and the most appropriate next steps—empowering you with the clarity needed to move forward confidently.

  • At Luxe Medical Imaging, our diagnostic MRI services are intended to provide targeted, high-resolution imaging to assist referring physicians in evaluating specific symptoms, confirming diagnoses, or guiding treatment plans. This service is typically performed based on a physician referral and integrates with your overall clinical care. However, like all medical imaging procedures, diagnostic MRI has inherent limitations, risks, and uncertainties. It is not a standalone diagnostic tool and must be interpreted in the context of your full medical history, physical examination, and other tests. By proceeding with this service, you acknowledge and agree to the following comprehensive disclaimers, which are designed to ensure informed consent and transparency. This disclaimer is not exhaustive, and we strongly recommend consulting your referring physician or a qualified healthcare professional for personalized advice. Luxe Medical Imaging advises that you seek independent legal or medical review if you have any concerns about these terms.

    1. Adjunct Role Only; Not a Replacement for Comprehensive Clinical Evaluation
Luxe diagnostic MRI serves as a supplementary imaging adjunct to, but is expressly not intended to replace or substitute for, a thorough clinical evaluation by your physician. It should not be used in isolation and must complement other diagnostic methods, including but not limited to physical examinations, laboratory tests, biopsies, ultrasounds, CT scans, X-rays, endoscopy, colonoscopy, echocardiography, or other specialized imaging as recommended by medical guidelines. For example, it does not replace dedicated cardiac assessments (e.g., stress tests or coronary angiography), pulmonary function tests, or orthopedic evaluations requiring dynamic imaging. Referrals are typically required to establish medical necessity, and results should always be discussed with your referring physician to avoid misinterpretation or delayed care.

    2. Detection Limitations and Potential for Missed or Inconclusive Findings
While diagnostic MRI provides detailed images of targeted areas, it may not detect all abnormalities, conditions, or diseases. Detection capabilities depend on factors such as the scan protocol, patient anatomy, motion artifacts, and the size or nature of the lesion. For instance:

      • It can generally identify abnormalities like tumors, inflammation, or structural damage once they reach a detectable size (often 5-10 mm or larger, varying by body region—potentially smaller in high-contrast areas like the brain and larger in motion-prone areas like the abdomen). However, very small lesions, micro-metastases, or changes with MRI appearances similar to normal tissue may be overlooked.

      • False negatives, false positives, or inconclusive results are possible due to technical limitations, patient movement, or interpretive variability.

      • As with any medical test, there are unavoidable constraints that make it impossible to guarantee 100% accuracy or detection of all pathologies. Over-reliance on MRI alone could lead to missed diagnoses; always correlate with clinical symptoms and other tests.

    3. No Comprehensive Evaluation of Non-Targeted Areas
Diagnostic MRI is focused on specific regions based on the referral (e.g., knee, brain, spine). It does not provide a whole-body overview and may miss incidental findings outside the scanned area. If broader screening is needed, consider discussing whole-body options with your physician, but note that diagnostic scans are not designed for asymptomatic proactive use.

    4. Limited Assessment of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Structures
Unless specifically protocolled (e.g., cardiac MRI), this service does not evaluate the heart, heart valves, coronary arteries, or detailed cardiac function. It may not detect arrhythmias, valvular disease, or acute cardiac events. Similarly, it provides limited views of lung microarchitecture, pulmonary nodules, or interstitial changes and is not a substitute for high-resolution CT or pulmonary-specific imaging.

    5. Not a Replacement for Dedicated Breast, Gastrointestinal, or Dermatological Evaluations Diagnostic MRI is not optimized for routine breast screening and does not replace mammography, ultrasound, or contrast-enhanced breast MRI for cancer detection or diagnostic workup. For gastrointestinal issues, it offers general views but cannot detect polyps, ulcers, or mucosal abnormalities—endoscopy or colonoscopy remains essential. Skin conditions are not visualized; direct dermatological examination is required.

    6. Limited Joint and Musculoskeletal Detail in Non-Specialized Scans
While excellent for soft tissues, diagnostic MRI may not fully assess intra-articular structures (e.g., ligaments, menisci, labrum, or cartilage) unless a joint-specific protocol is used. It does not evaluate dynamic motion or weight-bearing issues; arthroscopy or other modalities may be needed for complete orthopedic diagnosis.

    7. Limited Visualization of Small Vessels or Neurovascular Details
Standard diagnostic MRI does not always capture smaller brain or peripheral vessels, subtle stenoses, or dynamic blood flow abnormalities. Specialized sequences like MR angiography (MRA) may be added if requested, but limitations persist, and CT angiography or Doppler ultrasound could be more appropriate for certain vascular concerns.

    8. Risks Associated with Contrast Agents
When clinically indicated, gadolinium-based contrast agents may be used to enhance image quality. However, these carry potential risks, including allergic reactions (mild to severe, such as rash, hives, or anaphylaxis), nephrogenic systemic fibrosis (NSF) in patients with severe kidney impairment, or gadolinium deposition in tissues (though rare and typically asymptomatic). We screen for kidney function and allergies beforehand, but no contrast is risk-free. Non-contrast scans are preferred when possible. Inform your physician of any prior reactions or conditions (e.g., pregnancy, breastfeeding).

    9. General Safety Considerations and Contraindications
MRI is generally safe but involves strong magnetic fields that can interact with metal objects. Absolute contraindications include non-MRI-compatible pacemakers, cochlear implants, or certain aneurysm clips. Relative risks include claustrophobia (mitigated by our open-bore design), noise exposure (headphones provided), or discomfort from lying still. Patients with tattoos, piercings, or embedded metal fragments should disclose these. Pregnancy: While no radiation is involved, MRI in the first trimester is avoided unless essential; discuss with your obstetrician.

    10. Not a Substitute for Emergency or Specialized Diagnostic Imaging
Diagnostic MRI at Luxe is for non-emergent, scheduled evaluations and is not intended for acute trauma, stroke protocols, or time-sensitive emergencies (e.g., use CT for faster head injury assessment). It should not replace dedicated imaging for specific clinical scenarios, such as functional MRI for brain mapping or PET-MRI for oncology staging.

General Limitations, Risks, and Acknowledgments Medical imaging outcomes vary based on individual factors like body habitus, cooperation during the scan, and interpretive expertise. Results are not diagnostic in isolation and require correlation with your clinical presentation. Luxe Medical Imaging makes no representations, warranties, or guarantees regarding the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or outcomes of the scan, including but not limited to undetected conditions, interpretive errors, or subsequent health events. Participation does not establish a direct physician-patient relationship with Luxe staff or radiologists; all interpretations and follow-up must be handled by your referring or primary physician. By undergoing this service, you assume all risks associated with MRI and release Luxe Medical Imaging, its affiliates, employees, radiologists, and agents from any and all liability, claims, damages, or losses arising from or related to the procedure, results, undetected abnormalities, contrast use, or any other aspect of the service, to the fullest extent permitted by law. This includes waiver of claims for negligence, breach of warranty, or strict liability. If you experience any adverse effects during or after the scan, notify staff immediately and seek medical attention as needed. This disclaimer does not constitute medical or legal advice; consult professionals for your specific situation. Luxe reserves the right to update this disclaimer at any time.

A Few Things To Know

At Luxe, we focus on peaceful, proactive awareness but no single scan captures everything.

Our Scan Complements But Does Not Replace Standard Screenings

Our whole-body MRI complements routine care — not a replacement for screenings (e.g., mammograms, colonoscopies) — so you own the full context.

No Detailed Heart or Coronary Evaluation Included

It does not provide detailed heart or coronary vessel assessment.

Height-Related Visibility
Limits May Apply

Certain areas may have visibility limits (e.g., ankles for taller individuals >5'9"/175 cm).

Imaging Has Natural Limitations, Like Any Scan

Like any imaging, it may miss very small findings, lesions mimicking normal tissue, or conditions in specific areas (e.g., GI mucosa, detailed lung microarchitecture, skin cancers).

Always Review Results with Your Physician

Results should always be reviewed with your physician for context and next steps. We're here to empower your journey, not replace your existing care team.
